GROWER SPOTLIGHT

Could you tell us about your journey from grower to owner?

I initially wanted to be a veterinarian back in 2013. My interest in cannabis began when I did research on its effects on epileptic monkeys. But when I saw that commercial growers would be responsible for production with the commercial program in 2013, I realized that was my path. I switched careers, quit vet school, and started this business journey. It took a long time, but we made it, and it's been a great run so far.

What is your vision for the future of the cannabis industry, and how do you see your company contributing to it?

We pride ourselves on being a staple of quality. We have distribution partners overseas, and everyone takes pride in the quality we provide. Moving forward, I think we’ll continue contributing by maintaining that reputation and expanding internationally. Being one of the few profitable companies in this space, we’re proud of what we’ve built and how we've sustained success in a challenging industry.

Can you share a key moment in your career that was a turning point for you?

The biggest turning point was when I decided to quit vet school and commit fully to cannabis cultivation. It wasn’t an easy decision, but seeing the industry's growth and realizing I could create a meaningful place in it solidified my decision.

What steps do you take to ensure the highest quality and consistency in your products?

We take pride in maintaining high standards at every step of production. We grow using LEDs, coco coir, and CANNA nutrients. We produce only high-end flower in our facilities. Whether it’s sweeping, trimming, or the final cure, we ensure every detail is handled correctly to maintain quality throughout.

What role does innovation play in your business strategy?

Innovation is key to our success. We conduct R&D constantly, testing new production techniques before making any major changes. That’s how we’ve been able to stay competitive and maintain our presence in international markets.

How do you foresee the global cannabis market evolving in the next 5 years, and what steps is your company taking to stay ahead of the game?

We see growth in new jurisdictions opening up to cannabis. The Canadian product, especially high-quality cannabis, is doing well overseas. However, it’s crucial to maintain that high standard and avoid sending subpar products that could damage the reputation of Canadian cannabis.

What are your thoughts on Canada leading the way in legalized cannabis?

It’s great that Canada is seen as the leader in cannabis quality across various products. Our reputation is strong internationally, but we need to make sure that we don't hurt that image by exporting subpar products. Maintaining a high standard is essential so that Canadian cannabis continues to be associated with quality.

How important is knowledge-sharing in this community?

Knowledge-sharing is vital. Due to our small footprint, we partner with other growers. It's important to share knowledge about what works and what doesn’t. By doing so, we help our entire network improve and ensure mutual success.
